Make a positive change
Hypnotherapy can be effective in helping you overcome many challenges including: anxiety, blushing, depression, achieving goals, relationships, relaxation, stress, panic attacks, shyness and self development.
What is hypnosis?
Hypnosis involves being in a state somewhere between awake and asleep. When very effective it is a feeling of deep relaxation and mental calmness. It can involve a feeling of altered awareness, even heightened awareness, it is like guided daydreaming. You are aware of everything taking place, but are also able to concentrate on what is happening in the hypnosis session.
You have total freedom to accept or reject suggestions but you and the therapist form a partnership in which any suggestions given have first been agreed to. As you are in charge of the hypnotic session you can leave the hypnotic state at any time just as easily as you entered it. Because of this it means there are no dangers as long as the sessions of hypnosis are carried out by a professional.
Does hypnosis work?
With over 25 years of experience of hypnotherapy I have helped many people with a variety of problems using hypnosis. It has been shown that people who are hypnotised have different patterns in their brains as shown on MRI scans compared with people who do not. These show that various parts of the brain light up, in different colours, with hypnosis, that don’t light up when a person is just simply conscious.
We go into a trance in everyday life when:
- We watch TV and become so absorbed in it that the surroundings cease to exist and all that is important is what is happening on the screen.
- When driving and we become unaware of what happened during the journey.
- When daydreaming.
- When we drift between awake and asleep before fully waking up or fully going to sleep.
The conscious and subconscious mind
It is impossible to know how much of the mind is in the conscious and how much is in the subconscious. Whether it is phobias, fears, anxieties, depression, bedwetting, etc. The main task of hypnosis is to put appropriate suggestions into the subconscious mind.
The conscious mind is like the tip of the iceberg with the subconscious mind being the rest of the iceberg under the water.
Just like the iceberg analogy, it could be thought that the vast majority of the mind is the subconscious. Any problem that involves the subconscious mind has to be solved at that level. Different routes, techniques and suggestions can be made to enhance the outcome of the hypnotherapy.
Remember that the subconscious mind has everything in it that we have:
This is why it has a great deal of power to help us but to disturb us too with things we don’t want to remember or feel again. Most people are not aware of this unlimited potential and the great creativity of the subconscious mind. This creativity can be used to come up with many solutions to the problems you have.
